  • Choose from FREE 3-hour Essential Bike Maintenance classes or FREE 1-hour Dr. Bike Safety & Maintenance Clinics

  • Work with an expert bike mechanic and learn to inspect and maintain your own bike

  • Full inspection and service report for every bike worked on

  • Bring a friend: up to two people per appointment (limit of 1 bike per appointment)

  • By appointment only and limited to 1 appointment per household (please do not book multiple appointments!)

  • You'll be working on your own bike so we'd recommend NOT wearing your best clothes

Dr. Bike Classes and Coaching Clinics offer free pre-booked 3-hour maintenance classes and 1-hour maintenance coaching & repair appointments for up to two people where you will work with an expert bike mechanic to inspect and make minor repairs and adjustments to your bike. Every bike inspected is given a service report listing the work carried out and detailing any further work needed to make it roadworthy. See below for examples of repairs that can be carried out at Dr. Bike Clinics.

Appointments are by available by pre-booking only and are limited to one-per-household. Please pay close attention to your specific appointment or class time.. You may bring one other person with you to your appointment but only one bike is permitted between you. Please do not book multiple appointments!

Work we CAN do with you might include some (but not all) items such as:

  • Complete 'M-Check' essential safety inspection carried out on ALL bikes

  • Fixing a flat tyre

  • Adjustments to:

    1. Gears & brakes

    2. Bearings: bottom brackets, hubs or headsets

    3. Contact points: saddle, handlebars, grips, pedals

  • Replacing a brake or gear cable or brake blocks

  • Cleaning and lubricating a chain

  • Straightening ('truing') a lightly buckled wheel (<3mm lateral or radial runout)


Work we CAN NOT do on your bike:

  • Replacing major components such as drivetrain (chains, cassettes, derailleurs, etc.), wheels, tyres, saddles or major bearings (headset, bottom bracket, etc.)

  • Partial or complete rebuilds of disassembled bikes or fitting parts you have already purchased for your bike

  • Bleeding hydraulic brake systems or replacing disc brake pads

  • Tubeless or tubular tyre setup or repair

  • Ebike drive systems: repairs to, configuration changes or software updates

  • Replacing broken spokes, rebuilding or straightening a badly buckled wheel

  • Suspension servicing or repairs

  • Frame repairs, incl. welding or brazing, tapping or cutting threads

  • Paint or finish repairs

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT:


Booking a place and attending a class constitutes agreement to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Classes are available by pre-booking only. Anyone arriving without a pre-booked place will be refused entry.

  2. *Bike maintenance classes require a safe and rideable bike to work on. If your bike is not in rideable condition you should have it serviced and made safe to ride by a local repairer or at a Dr. Bike Clinic before attending your maintenance class.

  3. CORONAVIRUS: Our staff and volunteers and your fellow participants may be medically vulnerable, so you must not attend a session if you have tested positive for Coronavirus, have been advised to self-isolate or if believe you may have contracted coronavirus regardless of whether or not you have tested.

  4. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your class or clinic appointment time. Late arrivals are disruptive for other participants and we may refuse to admit you. If you are unable to make your session on time please let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.

  5. Young people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or legal guardian and we'll ask you to share a set of tools and to only work on one bike during the class.

  6. You are responsible for your own safety and that of those around you and you must follow all instructions given by the trainer.

  7. Equipment provided for use during classes remains the property of Velo Square and must not be taken out of the training area. Any unauthorised removal of equipment will be treated as theft and will be reported to the police

  8. Things can and do occasionally break when working on bikes; this can be due to age, misuse or previous poor maintenance. If something breaks on your bike during the session we will do our best to help but may need to refer you to a local repair service. You are liable for any costs associated with such a referral.

  9. You must advise us of any medical condition or disability that may effect your ability to participate in the activity in question. Where reasonable adjustments are needed to facilitate your participation we will take all reasonable measures to implement them.

  10. Cancelation by us: in the unlikely event that we have to cancel or reschedule your appointment we will endeavour to provide at least 24 hours notice. Where we need to cancel due to bad weather we will aim to provide at least 48 hours notice. If we have to cancel we will try to offer an alternative appointment within two weeks of your original booking.

  11. Cancellation by you: if you are unable to attend your appointment please let us know as soon as possible so we can make it available to someone else. If you fail to attend and do not give us notice we reserve the right to decline any booking you make for future activity.
